A memorial diamond is a real laboratory-grown diamond created using carbon prepared from ashes or hair. For some families it becomes a piece of jewellery worn every day; others keep the loose stone as a private remembrance.
A remembrance made for one person
The idea is personal rather than prescriptive. You may want a ring that can be passed through the family, a pendant worn close to you, or a diamond kept in its presentation case. Whether you are remembering a partner, parent, child or pet, there is no right time or way to make that choice.
Heart In Diamond creates each stone individually. We discuss the material available, the colour and carat range you prefer, and whether you want the diamond set in jewellery. The finished stone has its own natural-looking variations, so photographs and colour examples are guides rather than a promise of one exact appearance.
Can ashes or hair be used?
For a standard order, we ask for 100 g of cremated ashes or 2 g of hair. If you have less, or the keepsake is especially precious, speak with our New Zealand team before sending anything. We can explain how material is received, registered and assessed for your order.
A lock of a child's hair, a partner's hair, or material from a much-loved pet may hold a particular story. If you are considering a remembrance after pregnancy or infant loss, we will discuss what is possible with care and without asking you to decide before you are ready.
From a material sample to a finished diamond
The journey includes material registration, carbon preparation, HPHT diamond growth, cutting, polishing and certification. Diamond creation usually takes around 90 days from receipt of suitable material; jewellery and other selected options can add time. Read the creation process for each stage, or see how to order in New Zealand.
